So many battery boys getting upset in here. You can read the tears being fought back as they march back down to mom and dads basement to slam the door and scream into a pillow. EV racing sucks. EV cars suck. Charging a car every heat at the track sucks. Then there are the newest of BMW fans blathering how EV is leagues better than ICE and they have a decade of use at best to base this claim. In the end we all will drive whatever ticks our boxes.

By the way, what % of M3 buyers use their cars as track cars? I’ll answer it for you - a negligible amount.

Yes, I am just beside myself at the thought of a quad-motor high performance BMW EV. It's been keeping me up at night. Unfortunately my terrible EV is too quiet to drown out my screams of anguish, and my tears got on my charging port and ruined my plug. Curse you BMW for making this horrible M3 EV a reality and ruining my life!

Scrippy wroteI don't know if it does, I haven't driven it. Will have to ask mom & dad if I can come out of the basement to test it when the time comes. But it sure sounds great to me, though I'm likely not going to get a sedan at my current station in life. Just hoping that any learnings/tech permeate through the rest of the lineup as applicable. So it ticks your boxes. Enjoy the drive.

Scrippy wroteAhh, so in your anectodal experience, probably less than 4-5% of all M3s sold right (that was meant to be tongue in cheek)?Probably in the top 3 of cars I see at the track. Porche, Miata and M’s.
I see where your hatred of EVs is coming from now. You feel “marginalized” don’t you?

eman4517 wroteLooks great in the front, needs fenders like an M2 though and it's a home run.
Cool render though.

jmack123 wroteActual experience bud and no, I don’t feel marginalized. Are you seriously telling me you don’t see tons of M cars at track days? Must be a hard parking, stance for the Gram, freeway swimmer? Hence the electric fascination, so you can claim the fastest light to light crown in your local city?Ahh, so in your anectodal experience, probably less than 4-5% of all M3s sold right (that was meant to be tongue in cheek)?

Scrippy wroteThanks for the anectode, but you “seeing a ‘ton’ of M cars at the track” isn’t objective evidence. I get it though, you’re a “feelings” type of man. Seems you aren’t self-aware, cuz you’re acting like all these woke-folk who are offended about everything. Imagine being offended by an electric car. “eV cArs SuCk!”. Regarding why I drive electric, it’s simple - it is cheap to run, performs well, and fits within the parameters of my lifestyle. What about you? You think beating some old folks around a racetrack in a car someone else built makes you a winner?

PunsGalore wroteIf BMW broke out the molds and started making them again, I’d be first in line for a Z4M Roadster. Still my favorite BMW of all.I just wish BMW’s looked like they did 20 years ago.

jmack123 wroteYou nailed it buddy. Your myopic statement lacks any basis. I 100% will point out the absurdity of the EV. A Prius makes some sense but not a sports car. Ever notice the folks that mandate electric cars are ineffective and/or derelict in service? The only reason BMW is heading down this road is because of a forced hand by ridiculous government over reach. If everyone had an EV, we would have to offset charging time by city. Not county but city. Cart…….horse.Thanks for the anectode, but you “seeing a ‘ton’ of M cars at the track” isn’t objective evidence. I get it though, you’re a “feelings” type of man. Scrippy wroteAnd out of the 365 days of the year, how many days are you at the track? I will take instant torque and non-laggy EV throttle response any day of the year over the few days where another ICE car might be a better track car compared to my excellent every daily driver EV. Responsive is when the throttle pedal is directly connected to your body's internal G sensor. No less entertaining than cornering Gs. Even the i4 M50 can still pull .96g lateral cornering gs, and beat an M240i on a road course track test. The handling is more than ample for a street car.Probably in the top 3 of cars I see at the track. Porche, Miata and M’s.

hotrod182 wroteNot disagreeing that the i4 M50 is an impressive car, but I do think harping on the throttle response is amusing. It’s not like you’re heel-toe downshifting an EV, so it feels a little moot to be so fanatical about the throttle response. And out of the 365 days of the year, how many days are you at the track? LuckyL wroteWell, it’s kinda in the name already. It is Neue Klasse, which means New Class. Engine is primarily relevant in terms of power, which is just being replaced by a battery and motors.Ew.
It’s not an M. It’s some EV Abomination. Why do they have to mix them up?
Yes, I know half of you are gonna start quoting me and want to tell me all the reasons why EV is the future and who am I to tell people what an M car should be.
No, I don’t care, we can have different opinions. I really just don’t think they should consider these M cars. They’re a new class of BMW.

hotrod182 wroteWhat number of track days would suffice? We are talking about an electric M. Are you comparing the handling of the M50 to an ICE M car in your statement? The two are not equal in handling. I will acknowledge the instant and consistent torque on electric against ICE however. And out of the 365 days of the year, how many days are you at the track?
